New year, new career, and old, familiar fear

Last week, insurrectionists stormed the Capitol building in Washington D.C. It felt like a scene from the Handmaid’s Tale. Three. More. Days. And he will have left the Oval Office in disgrace.

I can’t even begin to imagine what it will feel like when he’s gone. I’m still cautious they may pull something crazy on the 20th, but mostly optimistic about the future as soon as any unrest gets under control.

The new variant of Covid is destined to soon become the main one and we‘re still not sure how that will impact the slow and poorly-managed vaccination effort. But I’m very aware of the plans of the new team on COVID and feel reassured to know the Andy Slavitt will be a big part of coordinating the effort.

So it’s time for me to get back to work. I need to figure out how I’ll be making a living because I have enough to live on for another two-three months.
